Style is forever - not just for Christmas.

I just love stylish jewellery and clothes. I have pieces in my wardrobe that I've been wearing for years and still receive compliments when I put them on - to me that's a test of style. Here are few of my favourite style tips which come straight from the lips of style gurus.
"A statement piece of jewelry, like a cocktail ring or great bracelet is something you can wear everyday to add a polished touch." Olivia Palermo

When wearing jewellery in winter - think big and bold: Choose pieces that won't snag or tangle in your knitwear. Wide cuff-bracelets and chunky geometric neck pieces look great with a simple knit, as does an over-sized chain necklace with a blouse. Remember scarves, hats and gloves are accessories too, so If you're wearing a scarf you don't need a necklace and if you're wearing a gorgeous pair of gloves - there's no need to over-style with bracelets.

"Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." Rachel Zoe

"Don't get caught up in trends. Know what looks good on you, reflects your personality and fits in with the demands of your life. You never want to look like you're wearing an elaborate costume, or stealing someone else's style. Gravitate towards what's right for YOU." Adam Glassman, Oprah's style guru.

"The trick and the mystery of relationships and life in general is to learn to live with the bits you don't like." Helen Mirren

"Black is slimming and appropriate for almost every occasion, but as women get older, our skin tends to become paler and wearing black can create a harsh contrast that emphasizes wrinkles and calls attention to dark shadows under the chin and around the eyes. Add a bright accessory like a scarf or a statement necklace to lessen the washed-out effect." Lauren Rothman, the founder of StyleAuteur.com & author of Style Bible: What to Wear to Work.

It's that time of the year when the lucky ones get to escape and go on holiday to somewhere lovely and sunny. I don’t know about you, but when faced with ‘what to pack’, I always have far too many shoes filling up my suitcase. However, with airline luggage allowances becoming increasingly tighter, it is important to pack smart and light and that means packing multi-functional items such as scarves and statement necklaces which can transform your holiday wardrobe. A carefully chosen necklace, pair of earrings or ring can transform the look of an outfit, lifting it from daytime casual to cocktail hour glam.

A scarf is the perfect multi-funtional piece as it will add a gorgeous finishing touch to an evening outfit - AND you can use it a sarong too.

Nothing looks more chic at the beach than chunky ethnic inspired jewellery. Beads are extremely versatile and add the perfect finishing touch to your holiday wardrobe. This "Cleopatra necklace" will add bling to your bikini, glamour to a white shirt or pizazz to your party dress.

Adding a fabulous pair of earrings is a simple way to take your look to the next level. Wear your hair up for an even more dramatic effect. These "on the ocean" earrings are so pretty, the deserve to be seen!

If you invest in one piece of jewellery this season, buy some pearls.

I cannot live without a string of pearls. I love the way Michelle Obama wears them.” Sarah Jessica Parker

Pearls are timeless, charming, sensual gems that reflect natural beauty and look fabulous in the form of necklaces and earrings. A pearl necklace or pair of pearl earrings will add a touch of class and sophistication to any outfit.

Since real pearls can be costly, it's perfectly acceptable to invest in faux pearls - if it's good enough for Sarah Jessica, it's good enough for us!

Fashion Tip: How To Wear Winter Sparkles

22/1/2013

Jewellery in winter is tricky ground. Delicate creations are generally out and chunky pieces in -  for good reason.

Getting your chandelier earring tangled up in your knitted scarf is never fun, especially when it's still attached to your ear!

So think big and bold - choose pieces that won't snag or tangle in your knitwear.

Wide cuff-bracelets and chunky geometric neck pieces look great with a simple knit, as does an over-sized chain necklace with a blouse.

Remember scarves, hats and gloves are accessories too. If you're wearing a scarf then you don't need a necklace and if you're wearing a gorgeous pair of gloves then there's no need to over-style with bracelets.

When it comes to earrings, less 'dangle' is definitely key for winter. Choose a pair which won't interfere with the neck-area of your outfit - styles which fit onto the ear work best and tangle-less.
